Description
This porcelain toothpick holder is a pretty piece of Wade Irish Porcelain, a porcelain and pottery company located in the Province of Ulster in Northern Ireland.This company originated in 1946 with production under the name of Irish Wade beginning in 1953.
Diminutive in size, this toothpick holder stands approximately 2 ½” in height and 2” in width.
It features a sage green, blue and brown glaze, a band of embossed shamrocks near the base, incised rib marks around the rim, a band of embossed dots and dark circular rings encircling this piece.
The Wade Irish Porcelain mark, circa 1953, is stamped on the base with the wording, “Irish Porcelain – Made in Ireland”.
In the middle of the wording is a shamrock image with a “J” in the center, which is the potters monogram.
Despite some manufacturing flaws and a few minor scuffs/scratches, this piece is in very good condition with no evidence of damage.
