Description
For your consideration are these monazite crystals from the Platt Pegmatite (also known as the Uranium King mine), Big Creek Pegmatite District, Carbon County, Wyoming USA. The Platt pegmatite was mined for U and REE's from ~1958-1965 by Ralph Platt and others. It is an extremely unusual pegmatite in that it hosts extremely abundant REE mineralization for its size including euxenite, monazite, columbite, and allanite. The pegmatite is otherwise mineralogically-simple, and is hosted in Archean metasedimentary rocks of the Archean Wyoming craton. These monazite crystal fragments are sold by weight (100 $ will receive 100 g)
