Japanese tea bowl Ohi ware / Ohi yaki
Ohi ware is made one by one using hand-building and a spatula without the use of a potter's wheel. The light and warm textured vessels retain heat well and are soft to the touch, and have been widely used for tea ceremonies.
The Raku family of Kyoto forbade the use of the black and red colors of Raku ware. The pottery is made in an integrated process from the making of the clay to the final firing.
