    Description

Fantastic 17pc Meissen Full Green Vine Gilt Tea Coffee Cup and Saucer Set
Presented is a fantastic Meissen porcelain cup and saucer set, consisting of 8
cups and 9 saucers. This set is made in the lovely Full Green Vine pattern, in
the highly decorated and gilt variety. It's worth noting the version of this
pattern which features gilt detailing and decorative shaping to the rims is much
much rarer than the plainer variety. This particular set dates to around the
late 1800s or early 1900s. These cups in particular are made in an interesting
form, with wide balustroid bodies and swan form handles. The cups and saucers
are decorated with continuous bands of an ivy or grape vine motif, with very
detailed leaves and little spiral offshoots, as well as gilt rims and bands. The
cups hold about 4 ounces or 118 milliliters) and are perhaps intended for coffee
rather than tea, or perhaps something else, given their distinctive shape.
Whatever the case, this is a fine and highly collectible set.
This set is in great overall condition. One saucer has some substantial wear
to the gilding, and a few of the rest have some minor wear to the gilding here
and there, but most have very little wear. There are no chips, no cracks, no
    breaks, and no repairs.
Each piece is marked with the Meissen crossed swords mark in underglaze blue.
Each cup stands about 3 1/8 inches tall. Each saucer measures about 5 7/8
    inches in diameter.
