This piece has been glued to a small Lucite square for display. I did not find this or do it. Weight given includes the Lucite/glue.

My maternal Grandfather worked as a maintenance supervisor in the Michigan copper mines from 1915-1955. All of Moms family is there, I have visited hundreds of times, adding to the collection each trip. Dad was a gold miner in the 1930's in Oregon, Nevada and Arizona. He served with Gen. Douglas MacArthur during WWII in Australia, New Guinea, Borneo and the Philippines. He sent specimens back whenever he found something interesting. I am selling off their collections plus my own. I didn't start collecting until 1974. During the 70's, 80's and 90's I lived in Alaska. In the winter and my unemployed time I prospected in Alaska, the Yukon, British Columbia, Alberta, Montana, Michigan, California, Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and Mexico. For 6 of those years I was an owner/operator of 5 semi-trucks. Being morally against the Alyeska-Alaska oil pipeline; instead of working on the pipeline my trucks hauled ore from mines with belly-dump trailers while I brought supplies and equipment in on a flatbed. Sometimes I was paid in specimens, nuggets, crystals or ore pieces. I possess a world class collection that would be the envy of any mineral museum. I am getting old. The heirs are not interested in this stuff. It all has to go. IT IS ALL 100 PERCENT NATURAL, MADE BY GOD AND MOTHER NATURE, NOT ME. Before I retired I even owned 2 jewelry stores. I have a lot of things you cannot get elsewhere.

I hunted silver in Alaska, the Yukon Territory, British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Montana, Michigan, Nevada, California, Oregon, Arizona, New Mexico, and old Mexico. At times silver was at an ounce and nobody cared if I detected the waste and tailing piles, even at an active mine. Things sure have changed.
I started metal detecting in 1974 and quit 42 years later in 2016. During that time I visited over 500 closed and abandoned gold, silver and copper mines. The gold was sold almost immediately for operating expenses. The silver ores went in one pile down in my pasture, and all the copper ores went into another. Concerning this particular slab; I know that I visited close to 200 silver mines and I never kept track of where any piece came from, they all went into the pile. As a seller, I have to tell you that to me all these ore pieces look pretty similar. Basically, I cannot tell them apart and if you want to know the location it would only be a guess. An educated guess in some instances, but still a guess. Because of that I make NO GUARANTIES of any kind concerning metal content or purity. You get what you see. If you want pure metal, buy some from somebody else that has been smelted and refined. ALL of my items are completely natural and untreated in any form unless specifically disclosed in the listing. May have a light coating of saw oil which can be removed by washing in "Dawn" brand dish-washing detergent. Some have been polished or shown wet. All photos are taken in natural light or light shade with no filters. They are sometimes shown at an angle to give you a better idea of how it looks.
