    Description

    Diary Lot
Lot includes handwritten diary 1892 & 1893 by George Gardener, handwritten expense book early 1900's-1926 (torn cover) and various papers and photo negatives.
The diary covers the time from January 1892 thru November 1893. All pages are full in neat legible cursive. Included are names including Hannah (wife?) and other family members along with neighbors and others he did business with in the Susquehanna County area. Entries include the weather, daily chores (fetched water, cut wood, raked hay, sowing and dragging) along with mentions of taking the wagon and animals to The Harford Fair, plus much more.
The expense book from the early 1900's is interesting including cost of goods- eggs 17 cents a dozen, cord of wood 1.50, (2) shoes on the brown mare for 20 cents. Also workers getting paid 10 cents per hour.
The other items include all shown in the photos.
