    SUMMARY:
Ascent of Trivor. In the summer of 1960 five Englishmen and one American under the leadership of Noyce set out to climb an unknown peak, Trivor, in the Karakoram Himalaya. No photographs existed of the mountain face and even officials in Pakistan were unable to locate it, although the summit overlooked both China and Russia. The book contains one of Don Whillans' few written pieces as Appendix A,
Solo by Motor-Bicycle from Rawalpindi to Lancashire
    .
Trivor is one of the high peaks of the Hispar Muztagh, a subrange of the Karakoram range in the Northern Areas of Pakistan. Its height is often given as 7,728 metres, but this elevation is not consistent with photographic evidence. There have been only two successful climbs of this peak; the first ascent was in 1960 by this British-American party.
    Cuthbert Wilfrid Francis Noyce
    (31 December 1917 – 24 July 1962) (usually known as
    Wilfrid Noyce
(often misspelt as 'Wilfred'), some sources give third forename as
    Frank
    ) was an
    English
    mountaineer
    and
    author
. He was a member of the
    1953 British Expedition
    that made the
    first ascent
    of
    Mount Everest
    .
